Julia is an occupational therapist from South Africa who is passionate about working with children and their families.
Julia completed a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2009 at University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Since completing her bachelor’s degree, Julia has worked within a range of paediatric settings, including an acute tertiary hospital, private practice and Not-for-profit Community settings within South Africa and private practice settings in Australia.
Julia moved to Sydney in 2013. Julia has worked with children with a range of challenges and/or diagnoses including developmental delay, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, various neurological and genetic disorders, spinal cord injuries, intellectual disability, burns, cancers, Down syndrome, AHDH/ADD, Autism Spectrum disorder, handwriting challenges, sensory processing and praxis challenges as well as other challenges, disorders and syndromes.
In 2016, Julia completed Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, by dissertation at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Julia’s research included the initial stages of development of a self-care assessment tool, for children with cerebral palsy living in resource-constrained areas of South Africa.
Julia loves learning and has completed a variety of post-graduate courses in:
- Neurodevelopmental Therapy (foundation and advanced courses)
- Sensory Integration
- Therapeutic Listening Program
Julia is passionate about working closely with families and other members of the multi-disciplinary team in order to set and achieve appropriate goals in order to help children achieve their potential.
